Flower or Bud Loss
Just because your orchid is experiencing flower loss does not necessarily mean it is dead; rather, it is simply entering into a dormant stage of rest.
If you experience premature orchid flower or bud loss, it could be a result of:
- Sudden temperature changes
Low temperatures (below 55 degrees F)- The plant is too dry
- The plant's roots are experiencing problems.
Remedy Orchid flower or bud loss by:
- Moving it to a warmer location with a consistent temperature
- Boost your watering amount
Consider repotting your orchid- Make sure to dispose of any dead buds.
Also make sure the roots are not constantly wet or sitting in standing water at the bottom of the pot. Once all the flowers have faded, visit our Care After Blooming section for tips on the bare flower spike and triggering re-blooming.
